Summer Art Camp 2009
Art Classes for Kids Ages 6 - 14
Summer Art Camp at Wild Child Arts offers 6 one-week classes for kids ages 6 - 14 from June 8 - July 20. Kids will work with professional
artists and teaching artists in visual art classes that explore drawing & painting, fiber arts, music, sculpture & more.
Sign your child up for just 1 to all 6 weeks of art classes today!
All Summer Art Camp classes meet for one week, Monday - Friday from 9:00am - 12:00pm and 1pm - 3pm Students should bring a snack
for break and wear play clothes and bring a smock so they can get messy!
Cost per class: $100.00
Pre-registration and payment is required one week in advance of all art classes.
No refunds after registration deadline.
Week 1 June 8th - 12
Art Explorations Ages 6 - 8 Time: 9-12
Participants will make 3 – 5 different projects, exploring drawing, painting, paper arts, sculpture and more. Using traditional materials to
found objects, students will explore and discover new ways to make masterpieces. Explorations and keep kids creative all summer!
Drawing & Painting 1 Ages 9 - 14 Time: 1 - 3
Kids will explore how to look at ordinary objects from a unique perspective. Explore the endless possibilities of pencil, charcoal, pastels
and paint. Working from observation and their imagination, students will learn about perspective, scale, composition and color. Projects
may include self-portraits, portraits, still-life drawing and landscape paintings.
Week 2 June 15th- 19
Art Explorations Ages 6 - 8
Participants will make 3 – 5 different projects, exploring drawing, painting, paper arts, sculpture and more. Using traditional materials to
found objects, students will explore and discover new ways to make masterpieces. Explorations and keep kids creative all summer!
Sew It Up! Ages 9 - 14 Time: 1-3
In this class kids will work with needle & thread. They will create their own felt mobile, make a designer doll along with fun accessories
like sleeping bags & hats, sew up a simple backpack & make a portable playset for the car.
Week 3 June 22- 26
Art Explorations Ages 6 - 8 Time 9am -12
Participants will make 3 – 5 different projects, exploring drawing, painting, paper arts, sculpture and more. Using traditional materials to
found objects, students will explore and discover new ways to make masterpieces. Explorations and keep kids creative all summer!
Puppets- Ages 9-14 Time : 1-3pm
Kids will create a 3D puppet, resembling a cartoon character of their choice, using a variety of mediums. Head will be constructed out of
balloons and plaster, feet and hands will be made from model magic clay and the bodies will be produced by leftover fabric scraps.
Fishing line will pull the hands and head up so the sculpture moves.
Week 4 June 29 - July 3rd
Art Explorations Ages 6 - 8 Time 9-12
Participants will make 3 – 5 different projects, exploring drawing, painting, paper arts, sculpture and more. Using traditional materials to
found objects, students will explore and discover new ways to make masterpieces. Explorations and keep kids creative all summer!
Drawing & Painting II Ages 9 - 14 time 1-3pm
2nd session of Drawing & Painting. Students will explore the basic elements of design and drawing while expanding their visual art skills.
Students will work with charcoal, pencil, pastel & paint as they learn about perspective, scale, composition and color.
Week 5 July 6-10

found objects, students will explore and discover new ways to make masterpieces. Explorations and keep kids creative all summer!
The Land Down Under Ages 9 - 14 Time 1-3
Australia holds a fascination for us all! Come learn about the unique & ancient Australian Aboriginal culture as you make your own
working boomerang, create Aboriginal style music with tipi sticks and didgeridoos and design & create a large scale relief walk-about.
Week 6 July 13 - 17

Participants will make 3 – 5 different projects, exploring drawing, painting, paper arts, sculpture and more. Using traditional materials to
found objects, students will explore and discover new ways to make masterpieces. Explorations and keep kids creative all summer!
Art + Music Ages 9 - 14 Time 1-3pm
Music will be played & masterpieces will be in the making in this class. Kids will learn about & hear music that has inspired great artists
to create great works like Mondrian’s love of jazz and his painting Boogie Woogie. Each day will focus on a different artist and musical
style.
