Introduction to PMC – Ellen Miles Class Date: June 28th Time: 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Workshop Fee: $130.00 per person &
includes all materials. Class will be limited to 6-12 participants.
I would like to invite you to a workshop that I will be teaching using an exciting new jewelry material called PMC or Precious Metal Clay. PMC
is a putty-like mix of silver power, water and binder that makes it possible for almost anyone to make real silver jewelry in a matter of hours.
PMC can be molded, textured, and layered with simple tools to make pendants, rings, earrings, small sculpture – in fact just about anything!
The work is dried and fired in a kiln where the water and binder are driven off to leave a unique object of art that is 100% pure silver.
The wonderful thing about PMC is the versatility that it offers. Inexperienced hobbyist or crafts persons can find great success in creating
beautiful one-of-a-kind jewelry but it also allows the experienced artist the potential for unlimited artistic expression. PMC can be combined
with many materials such as semi-precious gems, glass, porcelain, ceramics, sculpture, & mixed metals, among others.
In this workshop you will be introduced to the following information:
• What is PMC? History & Uses
• Types of PMC
• Tools, Equipment & Kilns
• Methods & Techniques to create a textured, layered pendant with bail & matching earrings
• Bonus project with leftover clay, learn how to create tube beads and torch fire
• All projects will be completed & fired in class so that you are able to wear your creation home!
